Job Summary

The Staff Facilities Engineer at Expand Energy is responsible for executing facility and construction projects within the company’s capital field development program, managing special projects, and providing top tier support to field operations. This position will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes facilities engineers, drafters/designers, I&E engineers, and engineering technicians. Key responsibilities include leading project management processes, mentoring facility engineering counterparts, implementing new facility technologies, evaluating facility ESG performance, championing process safety, and ensuring cost efficiency.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with engineering, field operations, and other supporting departments to lead Business Unit facility design and construction programs, including financial forecasting, detailed vessel and piping design, scheduling, equipment procurement, construction support, and performance lookbacks (operational and financial)
  • Manages pad compression facility projects, focusing on design, sound mitigation, and vibration control
  • Collaborates with the Business Unit asset development team to recommend and execute production facility designs and infrastructure, including pipelines, saltwater disposal systems, and central production facilities, that are tailored to the needs of the field development program
  • Assists with key landowner relations and working-interest partner communications by providing technical justifications and facility strategy information
  • Oversees the creation of Scope of Work documents, leads RFQ processes, and ensures the quality and timely delivery of facility engineering deliverables
  • Coordinates with midstream providers for third-party pipeline connections
  • Conducts closed vent system analyses and partners with the HSER team to ensure facility compliance with air standards
  • Champions process safety initiatives by leading process hazard analyses (PHAs) and risk assessments and actively participating in the Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) process
  • Provides excellent customer service to field operations, maintenance, construction, and engineering teams, ensuring that facility safety, operation, and reliability meet all expectations
  •  Leads facility engineering aspects of corporate development program, including manager technical review (MTR) presentations, AFE creation, and quarterly capital forecasts
  • Ensure capital development project success by collaborating with subject matter expert (SME) Facility Engineers and linear asset (pipeline, EDS) execution teams
  • Travel to field at least every other month or more frequently as needed to establish and maintain relationships, oversee ongoing projects, and plan future projects

Job Specific Skills

Knowledge of:

  • Economic evaluation and investment decision methods
  • Typical project management processes to control cost, schedule, and scope
  • The practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, and procedures to the design and production of the oil and gas industry
  • Natural gas process modeling, including use of ProMax or similar software
  • Design and analysis of oil and gas production facilities and pipelines
  • Oil and gas production operations
  • Oil and gas industry standards, codes, and practices
  • Electronic flow measurement, SCADA system design/implementation, and other communications media used in transmitting data from the RTU
  • Process control design, implementation, and troubleshooting
  • PHA techniques and leading PHA workshops with engineering and operations teams
  • Applying learnings and recognizing opportunities across regions and operating areas

Education

Minimum: Bachelor's degree - from accredited university

Minimum: One of the following:

Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) program, or

Professional Engineer (PE) license, or

Master’s degree - from accredited university - Master’s of Engineering degree from a program in which the correlating Bachelor’s degree is accredited by the ABET EAC

Experience

Minimum: 5 years related work experience
