Job Summary
The Staff Corporate Development Engineer plays a key role in supporting the company’s growth strategy by integrating engineering expertise into asset evaluation, acquisition and divestiture (A&D), and strategic decision-making. This position combines strong technical engineering fundamentals with commercial analysis to assess upstream natural gas assets, development opportunities, and portfolio optimization initiatives.
Working under general guidance, the role is responsible for evaluating reservoir and production performance, developing economic models, and conducting technical due diligence to ensure that investment decisions are grounded in accurate engineering assumptions and risk assessments.
Job Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Evaluation & Asset Analysis
- Evaluate production performance, reserves potential, and economic value of natural gas assets, including operated and non-operated properties
- Perform decline curve analysis, volumetric calculations, and material balance assessments to estimate reserves and production forecasts
- Analyze drilling, completion, and well performance data to recommend development strategies and identify optimization opportunities
- Interpret drilling, testing, and production data to support reservoir characterization and development planning
- Conduct field-level evaluations of existing assets and acquisition targets, including economic and operational assessments
Corporate Development & Transactions Support
- Support acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture evaluations by providing engineering analysis and insights into key value drivers
- Assist in technical due diligence, including review of reserves, type curves, capital programs, operating costs, and facility constraints
- Develop production forecasts, capital schedules, and operating assumptions for use in financial models
- Identify technical risks, uncertainties, and upside opportunities that influence asset valuation and deal structure
- Collaborate with Finance, Land, and Strategy teams to support investment recommendations and transaction execution
Planning, Forecasting & Optimization
- Monitor production rates and reservoir performance; recommend workover, recompletion, or stimulation programs to enhance recovery
- Develop and maintain development plans aligned with corporate strategy and capital allocation priorities
- Assist in long-range planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Evaluate new drilling opportunities and optimize well placement and spacing
Data Analysis & Tools
- Utilize engineering and economic software (e.g., Aries, PHDWin, or similar) for reserves estimation and economic evaluation
- Analyze large datasets to validate assumptions and improve forecasting accuracy
- Support development of standardized tools and workflows for asset benchmarking and evaluation
- Leverage data visualization and analytical tools (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI, Excel; Python experience preferred)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with subsurface, production, and facilities engineers to validate technical assumptions
- Communicate engineering findings clearly to commercial, financial, and executive stakeholders
- Assist in resolving operational challenges and provide technical support to field teams as needed
Job Specific Skills
- Strong understanding of reservoir engineering, production engineering, and natural gas asset development
- Proficiency in decline curve analysis, volumetrics, and economic evaluation techniques
- Knowledge of well performance analysis, pressure transient behavior, and reserves estimation methodologies
- Ability to integrate technical data into commercial insights and investment decisions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a transaction-driven environment
- Effective communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Working knowledge of publicly available data sources (e.g., Enverus) and internal evaluation tools
Education
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) program, or Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Master’s degree - from accredited university - Master’s of Engineering degree from a program in which the correlating Bachelor’s degree is accredited by the ABET EAC
Experience
Minimum: 5 years related work experience
