Job Summary

The Senior Commercial Gathering Representative is responsible for leading commercial management of key producer relationships, negotiating complex gathering and transportation agreements, optimizing gathering system utilization, and supporting the strategic growth of the company’s midstream assets. This role serves as a senior commercial liaison between producers, operations, engineering, legal, and commercial leadership to ensure reliable service, maximize asset value, and drive new business opportunities. The Senior Commercial Gathering Representative provides commercial insight on system expansion opportunities, supports strategic negotiations, and mentors junior commercial team members.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Commercial & Customer Management

  • Serve as the senior commercial point of contact for key producers and strategic counterparties
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers, ensuring a high level of service and proactive communication
  • Lead resolution of complex customer inquiries regarding volumes, system capacity, scheduling constraints, and commercial terms
  • Coordinate with internal teams to proactively resolve commercial or operational issues that impact producer satisfaction and system performance
  • Provide strategic insight into customer development plans and align commercial strategy accordingly

Contracting & Negotiations

  • Lead negotiations for gathering, transportation, and related commercial agreements with producers and counterparties
  • Draft, review, and redline complex commercial contracts, amendments, and exhibits in collaboration with legal and commercial leadership
  • Ensure commercial agreements align with internal economic targets, risk parameters, and long-term company strategy
  • Manage and monitor key contract terms, commercial obligations, and contract lifecycle events to ensure compliance and maximize value
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members in contract development and negotiations

Business Development & System Optimization

  • Identify, evaluate, and lead pursuit of new business opportunities including new producer connections, acreage dedications, system expansions, and commercial partnerships
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to assess system capacity, operational constraints, and expansion opportunities
  • Lead economic evaluations and contribute to commercial strategy and business case development for new projects and infrastructure investments
  • Monitor market conditions, basin development activity, and competitor strategies to inform commercial positioning and growth initiatives
  • Represent the company in external meetings with producers, industry partners, and potential customers

Volume Management & Forecasting

  • Analyze producer drilling plans, well performance, and development activity to develop and maintain accurate volume forecasts
  • Collaborate with scheduling, operations, and measurement teams to ensure accurate nominations, reporting, and system balancing
  • Evaluate impacts of producer development activity on system capacity, utilization, and financial performance
  • Provide strategic insight into long-term volume outlooks and infrastructure planning

Internal Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, legal, marketing, and finance to support commercial initiatives and asset optimization
  • Prepare detailed commercial reports, forecasts, and presentations for senior leadership
  • Contribute to strategic planning, annual budgeting, and long-term commercial forecasting
  • Support internal commercial strategy discussions and provide insights to leadership on market opportunities and risks

  • Advanced communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of commercial strategy, market analysis, and midstream business fundamentals

  • Excellent attention to detail with strong commercial judgment and decision-making capability
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor junior team members in a collaborative environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required

Education

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Business, or related field 

Preferred: MBA, CFA, industry certifications or advanced commercial training

Experience

Minimum: 8 years related work experience in midstream, energy, commercial operations, or a related a industry

Preferred: Industry certifications or advanced commercial training considered an asset

Demonstrated experience negotiating commercial agreements and managing producer relationships preferred
