Job Summary
This role serves as a valuable starting point for a career in oil and gas accounting, offering exposure to upstream operations and financial reporting within the energy sector. The entry-level position is responsible for supporting the financial and operational accounting functions.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with daily accounting functions including but not limited to detailed invoice review, account coding, purchase orders, pricing, tax discrepancies and supporting documentation to ensure invoices are processed and paid accurately
- Reviews and organizes accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
- Helps prepare various account reconciliations/analysis
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Specific Skills
- Basic knowledge of and ability to apply professional accounting principles, theories, concepts and terms
- Basic knowledge of spreadsheets, database software and the automated accounting system used in the department
- Basic knowledge of the structure, policies and operating details of the accounting system or segment thereof for which responsible
- Ability to classify accounting transactions, maintain and reconcile accounts, close accounts and prepare reports and statements
Education
Minimum: High school diploma or GED
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - Accounting, Finance or related field
Experience
Minimum: 0 - 2 years related work experience
