Job Summary

The Software Engineer I is an entry-level role focused on developing, configuring, testing, and supporting enterprise applications under direct supervision. The position provides opportunities to work with custom software, cloud platforms, integrations, databases, and low-code development tools.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports the design, configuration, and development of applications, workflows, and services in alignment with defined requirements
  • Uses source control and established build, review, testing, and deployment processes to support application releases
  • Assists with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution of application and platform issues using established procedures and guidance
  • Assists with monitoring applications, reviewing logs and alerts, and resolving routine support issues in accordance with established procedures
  • Assists with developing and supporting integrations between various applications and external systems using REST APIs and other approved integration patterns
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation for configurations, components, integrations, and support procedures
  • Collaborates with business analysts, administrators, developers, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver solutions
  • Develops and executes unit tests and assists with functional testing to verify that solutions meet defined requirements

Job Specific Skills

Required Skills

  • Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language, such as Java, C#, JavaScript, or Python, and exposure to SQL, HTML, or CSS
  • Basic understanding of software testing, debugging, and code-coverage requirements
  • Foundational understanding of Agile and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) concepts
  • Familiarity with Git-based source control concepts and development lifecycle tools, such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, or similar platforms
  • Basic understanding of data models, relational tables, and system configurations
  • Ability to identify issues, analyze information, and assist in developing and implementing solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, customers, and external contacts
  • Ability and willingness to learn new programming languages, platforms, tools, and business processes
  • Ability to receive feedback, ask questions, and work effectively under technical guidance
  • Basic awareness of secure development practices and access-control concepts

Preferred Skills

  • Basic knowledge of the Salesforce platform architecture
  • Familiarity with workflow automation and low‑code/no‑code development concepts
  • Exposure to one or more Salesforce development or configuration technologies, such as Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, or SOQL
  • Familiarity with Salesforce security concepts such as profiles, permission sets, roles, sharing rules, and field-level security

Education

Minimum: High school diploma or GED

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree - from accredited university - IT, MIS, Computer Science or related field

Experience

Minimum: 0 years related work experience

Additional Qualifications

Exposure to Salesforce through academic coursework, personal projects, technical training, internships, certifications, or on‑the‑job experience
