Job Summary
The Rig Manager I is responsible for supervising and coordinating an active company operated drilling program at the well site. This position directs and supervises rig crews and service providers at the well site. Responsible for overseeing operations on the rig site, so that the crew adheres to EXE and SDC’s Safe Operating Practices and JSEAs.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as an entry level manager at the well site expected to be knowledgeable of and an advocate for established Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures
- Serves as a member of the well site emergency response team
- Assists in coordination of all well site service provider activities
- Rig Manager is responsible for well control and securement of the well
- Provide supervision, direction and training of rig crew adherence to EXE and SDC’s Safe Operating Practices and JSEAs
- Fill in for driller and or other rig base employees as needed
- Maintain a high level of professionalism at the well site in all communication with the public, service providers, regulatory authorities, and all employees
Job Specific Skills

- Knowledge of heavy equipment
- Knowledge of chemical and fractionator systems
Education & Experience
Minimum: 0 - 6+ years related experience
A minimum 5+ years of drilling industry experience with horizontal wells
Additional Qualifications
- Ability to communicate with a broad range of people and function as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team
- The candidate shall have completed the following training schools or programs
- Current Well Control and Blowout Prevention Certificates
- Basic First Aid and CPR
- Ability to work in all types of weather, combination of climate-controlled office environments and out-of-doors, where exposure to atmospheric conditions of extreme heat or cold, fumes, and gases is not rare
- Valid Driver's License, required
- Meet the physical demands test requirements
